Product Description
The best stocks are simmered slowly over steady, low heat. Calphalon's 12-qt. Stock Pot is crafted of heavy-gauge aluminum to cook ingredients evenly, at just the right temperature. Stick-resistant surface won't react with most foods. Includes flat, anodized lid.

Amazon.com Review
Calphalon Commercial hard-anodized pans are made for the more serious cook who is looking for kitchenware built to last a lifetime. This large-size, 12-quart stockpot is good for soup, stews, and pasta, and its heavy-gauge aluminum construction also stands up to deep frying. The looped handles are easy to grip and stay cooler than you might expect, thanks to V-shaped splits where they meet the pan, but it's still a good idea to keep hot pads nearby. The nonporous and nonreactive hard-anodized surface resists sticking and doesn't affect the flavor or color of food. It's also tough enough to handle stainless-steel utensils and vigorous whisking. Unlike pans with plastic or wood handles, the extremely sturdy all-metal construction provides you the flexibility to take the pan to the oven or broiler. But do remember to hand wash your Calphalon pans--dishwasher detergents are bad for the finish and their use voids the lifetime warranty. --Dale Steinke

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for cooking for a lot of company   August 22, 2010
K. Jerpi (Red Oak, TX USA)
Several times a month we cook for large family get togethers. This pot is big enough for us to only have to use one pot instead of 2 or 3. We love the Calphalon brand and this makes a perfect addition to our collection.

3 out of 5 stars Just OK - Inside Coating Coming Off   August 4, 2010
N. Riley
This was a great pot for a couple years but the inside coating on the bottom has recently begun to come off. I can only assume that it is slowing leaching into the food I cook. They have the stated retail price at $169 but that is just standard marketing mumbo jumbo to get you to believe that you are getting a great deal. The truth is for the $69 this pot costs on Amazon you could find a much better 12 qt. stock pot than the Calphalon. I would go for all stainless if you can and not worry about the iffy coating on the Calphlon. Just like when buying tools, when it comes to kitchen ware get the best. Buy fewer items, but spend a little more on each and you will be sooooooo much happier in the long run. The good stuff will have a life that spans multiple generations. Look at me it is three years after I first purchased this pot and I already have to get a new one. Pretty soon I am going to have spent twice as much as the best quality ones would have cost in the first place.

4 out of 5 stars great pot, but too big for me   July 13, 2010
s.wong (san francisco)
i heard a lot about the calphalon commercial series and thought it would be the best quality for the money. it has lived up to the positive reputation and has been a great pot that i have used many times for soups and stews. the only problem for me is that this pot is too big. there isn't enough room between my over the range microwave and the top of this pot for me. if i were to go back i would buy a smaller size but i am happy with this pot.

This pot was bought to demo my resting wooden spoons, but my wife has a smaller one that she uses every week. [...]

5 out of 5 stars I notice this did not get really good reviews.   April 9, 2010
M. Bryant (Mendham, NJ, US)
I got this with a Christmas gift certificate this past Christmas and I love mine. I have had no problems with it at all. I do not put it in the dishwasher though and do not put any of my other pots/pans in either...I have always washed them by hand like my mom taught me....I came from a big family and the dishwasher was reserved for plates, glasses and utensils. I usually soak any of my pans that might require a brillo pad. I haven't used a brillo in forever. I have not made tomato sauce (gravy) in mine yet, but have made a big pot of chilli and all was well. I do spray my pans that are not nonstick with cooking spray though before use. Maybe that is why nothing happened when I made the tomato based chilli. My other pots/pans are all-clad, but I WOULD buy this brand again. As a matter of fact, I am thinking of giving my baby sister a set for her birthday this fall as I think it is time she upgrade to a grown woman set..lol. I am also considering adding the everyday pan to my collection. Hope this helps you decide. Good luck!
